The shores of Lake Maggiore in Italy are home to many charming towns. In a previous article we talked about Stresa<\/a>. Today we tell you about Cannobio<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

History of Cannobio<\/h2>\n

No one knows the date of the founding of Cannobio, but several archaeological finds say that a settlement existed in the area in very ancient times. Then, like many other localities around Lake Maggiore, Cannobio also came under Roman rule<\/strong>, becoming an important point for trade with territories beyond the Alps.<\/p>\n

In medieval times, Cannobio prospered thanks precisely to trade<\/strong> but also to manufacturing, and today it is a popular tourist resort<\/strong>, particularly appreciated for the panorama of Lake Maggiore.<\/p>\n

In Cannobio you will find a romantic atmosphere<\/strong>. The mild and breezy climate favors the growth of lush and varied vegetation, which frames the profile of the hills that is reflected in the clear water of the lake. Embellishing the view are the Castelli di Cannero<\/strong><\/em>, three rocky islets a short distance from the shore, on which stand the remains of an ancient 13th\/14th century fortification.<\/p>\n
