Santorini is undoubtedly one of the most picturesque islands in the Mediterranean. It is one of the Cycladic islands and it rests on an ancient volcano.
Among the attractions of Santorini there are its unique, traditional villages perched on the cliffs of the caldera, a lagoon created by the eruption in 1450 B.C. that is located in the center of the island and where there is still a huge crater, under the sea at 400 meters depth.
Just to mention the most famous villages overlooking the caldera: Oia (with its churches), Fira (the lively island’s capital) Firostefani and Imerovigli, all characterized by a predominance of white and blue colors. Then the wonderful sunsets that you can admire over the volcano; the crystal clear waters of the Aegean Sea and the several beaches, mainly with black sand or pebbles, but also grey, white and even red! Also the local cuisine is much appreciated, in fact the products of the island have a special flavor thanks to the volcanic earth and this goes for the food and for the wines as well.
