Cala Salada: the Charming West Coast of Ibiza

Cala Salada: the Charming West Coast of Ibiza

The west coast of Ibiza hides coves that have nothing to envy to the most popular beaches along the other coasts of the island. Cala Salada is one of these. Often mentioned together with its neighbor, the small Cala Saladeta, this bay actually has a character all its own, more mature and welcoming.

What to Expect When Visiting Cala Salada

At Cala Salada the golden sand blends with smooth pebbles. The sea features a gently sloping sandy seabed, making its crystal-clear waters safe and inviting for swimming.

Adding to the charm are the casetas varadero—ancient boat sheds carved directly into the rock. With their colorful, weathered wooden doors, these structures show Ibiza’s enduring maritime soul.

The beach offers ample space and comfort. Enhancing the experience even further is a well-known local restaurant where you can  savor a traditional paella or freshly caught fish while overlooking the tranquil bay.

Cala Salada and Cala Saladeta

Cala Salada lives in symbiosis with its “younger sister”, Cala Saladeta. These beaches are separated only by a rocky promontory, but offer distinct experiences. While the latter, reachable by a panoramic path, enchants with its wilder appearance and its Caribbean waters, the other one responds with a more comfortable charm and a more lived-in atmosphere.

The choice between the two depends on what you want at that precise moment. You can start the day with the tranquility and comforts of Cala Salada, and then venture out in the afternoon to discover the more hidden Cala Saladeta, thus enjoying two different perspectives of the same, magnificent stretch of coast.

How to Get to the Bay

The beach is located a few kilometers from Sant Antoni de Portmany, which makes it ease to reach, although far from the excessive summer crowds. To preserve its beauty, during the high season access with private vehicles is limited. The most practical solution is to leave the car at the dedicated parking lot and use the convenient minibus that shuttles to the beach. Alternatively, from the port of Sant Antoni, you can take a ferry and enjoy a charming view of the coast.
